Men paraded for cable theft at Eko Atlantic
The police have arraigned four men at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court,
Lagos for allegedly stealing diesel and cable wire belonging to Eko
Atlantic Company, Lagos.
Samuel Enoch, 32, Taye Ajayi, 28, Kayode Baba, 32 and Segun Adeojo, 35,

There were indications on Wednesday that the Nigerian government may have carried out a massive retrenchment exercise at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). A strong source close to the agency confided in our correspondent that all of the agency’s directors but one, Managing Director Saleh Dunoma, lost their jobs. President Buhari Off To Germany On Wednesday.
President Muhammad Buhari will leave for Germany on Wednesday night, SaharaReporters has learnt. Our sources said he will return to Nigeria on Saturday. While the Presidency is yet to announce the event, SaharaReporters was told that barring a last-minute change of plans, he will jet out of Abuja late on Wednesday, to arrive in Berlin in the early hours of Thursday.

Hurricane Matthew crashed through major island nations of the Caribbean this week and is now heading toward the US, creating flood situations in Florida and soon Georgia according to US officials. Haiti, still struggling since the devastating earthquake in 2010, lost at least 271 to Hurricane Matthew according to US media sources. That number is expected to rise as Haitian officials sift through the rubble left in the wake of the storm.

Residents in the Koluama Community in the Southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa State have called for an intensification of security in the area due to frequent attacks by sea pirates. Money Laundering: Banker Gets 12-Year Jail Term, Forfeits N43m .
The Federal High Court in Ibadan has sentenced a former employee of Wema Bank, Ademola Oni, to 12-year imprisonment for conspiracy and money laundering. The court, which was presided over by Justice Joyce Abudmalik on Thursday, also ordered that the convict forfeit all his properties and cash in various banks as proceeds of crime. The properties to be forfeited by the convict are an empty plot of land fenced with black gate located along the road beside Secam Church, Providence Estate, Sango Eleyele Expressway, Ibadan.

The presidency has debunked the claims by some protesters in Bayelsa state that the allowances due to the former President Goodluck Jonathan have been stopped and his accounts frozen. The Senior Special Assistant, media, Garba Shehu said this in a statement on Friday.
“We have confirmed with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) that the former President and the other past leaders were paid their allowances up to the second quarter. The past leaders have not been paid third quarter allowances but will get their dues when remittances are received by the SGF from the Ministry of Finance.”

Court Dismisses Oduah’s Bid To Stop Corruption Trial .
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday dismissed an application
filed by a former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, seeking to stop
the Federal Government from investigating her for alleged corruption.
Justice Adamu Kafarati held that the fundamental rights enforcement suit
filed by Oduah was without merit and bereft of any cause of action.
The judge upheld the objection raised by the respondents, arguing that
the court lacks the requisite jurisdiction to hear the case.

Rtd. Chief of Air Staff Adesola Amosu and 10 others, who are under trial

Defence counsel Norrison Quakers said this on Tuesday before Justice
Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos.
At the resumed proceedings on Tuesday, EFCC lawyer Rotimi Oyedepo told
the court that he was ready to open his case against the defendants and
had already brought two witnesses to court for trial to commence.

A US man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend with a shotgun in front of their seven-month-old daughter wrote an apology on Facebook hours before she was murdered.
Ethan Reid, 23, is charged with murder in the death of 20-year-old Kaylah Hodges, who was fatally shot at his mother's home in Scottsville, Kentucky.
